Wagga Wagga is a great destination for cycling. It is famous, in particular, for Geers + Beers and the Dirty130. There are, however, 51 other weekends in the year when a visit to Wagga can be paired with some great cycling.
In October 2020 I had the opportunity to take the weekend and did two long rides – one on-road and another with some sneaky gravel. There is so much more gravel for the more adventurous – but these rides had Mrs CyclingGravel along for the trip so we had to be a little picky (she prefers sealed country roads).

Wagga to Coolamon
Heading to Coolamon provides heaps of gravel cycling options. And, when you get there, a visit to the Cheese Company provides an excellent lunchtime option

Wagga to Junee
Ever been to a train roundhouse? Like chocolate? Want some country road cycling? This ride might be for you!
Other recommendations to make it a weekend

Hotel – The Houston
This boutique hotel has well priced, beautiful rooms – much nicer that a standard hotel. Staff service was great, and it is an easy walk to the brewery and many restaurants.

Winery – Cottontail Wines
Beautiful views, great food and good service. We visited for dinner, but next time we are in Wagga Wagga plan to cycle for a wood fired pizza lunch.

Brewery – The Thirsty Crow
Just what you need after a ride – an excellent beer or two. Well frequented by cyclists, I can only attest to the quality of the beverages, of which the sadly seasonal Steamed Rice Lager was a super impressive brew.
